William Fry's probate records identify his widow as Matilda V. Fry, of Hicksville, previously married with chidlren. Matilda received a life estate in the real estate of William Fry, for as long as she remained a widow, or until death, after which the real estate transfered to various people presumed to be children or relatives of William Fry, with surnames Goforth and Hair.¹

Job Merritt is listed in the 1790 U.S. census living in Charlton, Worcester Co, MA, with two males under 16, two males 16 or above, and 7 females. In 1800 there is no Job Merritt listed in Charlton, but a Job Merritt appears in Calais, Washington Co, VT, age 45 or above, with his presumed wife, age 26 through 44, 5 younger males, and 2 younger females. He was one of the original proprietors of Calais, and is likely the man that appears there in the 1800 census, though no records have been found to prove it. His wife, Hannah, is supposedly the Mrs. Merritt that died in Charlton, 8 Mar 1831, age 85 (Charlton VRs to 1850).
